Job Description

SUMMARY
The mission of the Tucson Unified School District is to prepare all students to become responsible, ethical, and engaged global citizens by creating relevant, dynamic, and joyful educational experiences that embrace cultural diversity. The Bond Department oversees the planning, execution, and monitoring of bonds with a commitment to excellence, accountability, transparency, customer service, and collaboration. Reporting to the Bond Program Manager, the Accountant will play a vital role in managing the accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting functions within the bond department.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field AND
Four (4) years of accounting experience
OR
Six years of professional accounting experience which includes one year of fund accounting experience.
Experience with compliance issues pertaining to Federal Grants.
Four years experience using Microsoft Excel.
Ability to use word processing and database programs.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
Verbal & Written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of the Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR).
This position will be primarily focused on the duties of grants accounting which will include, but are not limited to, reimbursement requests, completion reports, oversight of expenditure coding to follow USFR and grant guidelines, budget management and review of spending timelines.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
FBI fingerprint background check.
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

COMMENTS
Effective: 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR
Location: District Office - 1010 E Tenth St.
Classification: Non-Bargaining

FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 12 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
