Serves as a liaison between the school and the home and encourages parents and community involvement in school activities. This position provides referrals or works with TUSD services and resources and external social service agencies to provide information to staff, students and families as needed.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND
Five (5) years experience in public relations, social services, volunteer programs, or community services programs.
Associates degree in social science or related field AND
Three (3) years of experience in public relations, social services, volunteer programs or community services programs
Demonstrated knowledge and involvement with community services.
Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
Reliable mode of transportation
Any equivalent combination of experience, training, or education
Availability to work flex hours as needed, to include evenings and/or weekends
SCHOOL COMMUNITY LIAISON @ FAMILY CENTERS ADDITIONAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
Create a positive and welcoming environment for TUSD Family Resource Center.
Provide regular opportunities for family engagement by informing families about workshops, school events, and volunteer opportunities through a variety of avenues.
Maintain complete and accurate records of activity at the center, as directed by program coordinators and director in Family and Community Outreach Department.
Participate in outreach activities to help increase family and community engagement.
Seek and secure opportunities for collaboration with community partners.
Work under the direction of the program coordinators and director in Family and Community Outreach Department to ensure success of family engagement efforts.
Assist with transportation of parents, as necessary.
Maintain clothing bank by creating a welcoming environment and ensuring cleanliness and accessibility of needed items for TUSD students and families.
Maintain food pantry by receiving, distributing, and properly storing food items, and maintaining required documentation.
Communicate with Family Resource Center Program Coordinator about daily operations of the center.
Compile and report data to Family Resource Center Program Coordinator.
Experience working with multi-cultural populations and youth.
Bilingual in English and Spanish
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check (at employee’s expense).
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
Valid AZ Driver's License required within 10 days of hire. Must not have accrued eight points against driver’s license within the past two years.
Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of auto insurance policy. Coverage must be valid throughout term of employment.
Must submit evidence of insurance of $30,000 bodily injury liability & $10,000 property damage liability.
