Athletic Compliance Specialist (Effective 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR)
Job Description
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, plans, administers and implements processes and procedures for students through the Interscholastic department to ensure schools and athletic programs remain compliant with TUSD, AIA, and NCAA academic rules and regulations. This position assists the development of the athletic coordinator, school counselor, and parents to help understand and clarify recruitment, admission, and initial academic eligibility requirements in all collegiate sports programs. The specialist interprets and makes recommendations to change or improve district athletic eligibility for K-12 programs; this includes college eligibility. Athletic Compliance Specialist may serve in certain circumstances as the liaison between Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) and the corresponding interscholastic community stakeholder. Oversees all athletic and Interscholastic compliance activities for the school district, ensuring strict adherence to all policies. Monitors student-athlete eligibility.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration, Management, Business, or a related field.
OR
4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Ability to develop and formulate working processes, policies, and procedures in areas of expertise.
Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience creating, developing, scheduling, and conducting complex training for staff.
Excellent customer service skills.
Knowledge and ability to use word processing, database, Synergy, and spreadsheet programs.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check.
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
Must hold a current Arizona Driver’s license and have accrued no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.

Work Calendar: 12 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
