Job Description

SUMMARY

The CTE Professional Development and Academic Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating professional development programs that enhance educators’ skills in career and technical education. This role supports academic staff through training on instructional strategies, curriculum implementation, and student engagement techniques aligned with CTE standards and workforce readiness goals. The trainer collaborates with school leadership and industry partners to ensure training content is current, relevant, and effective in preparing students for technical careers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in the Educational Field, Career & Technical Education, Instructional Design, or related field.

Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Three (3) years’ experience working with at-risk populations Two (2) years’ experience providing professional development

Knowledge and/or experience as a trainer in the Essential Elements of Instruction, or willingness to complete this requirement within one year

Knowledge of and/or experience as a trainer in the most recent Arizona State CTE Standards or willingness to complete this requirement within one year

Experience in designing and delivering adult professional development and training workshops Familiarity with current educational technologies and learning management systems.

Knowledge of career and technical education standards, workforce competencies, and academic integration.

Knowledge and or experience training in cognitive coaching or other similar coaching frameworks or methodologies Familiarity with current educational technologies and learning management systems.

Ability to analyze data and apply findings to improve training outcomes

Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including coaching skills, writing competency, professional development presentation skills, well-versed in the use and integration of technology, and flexibility.

Collaborative mindset when working alongside educators, administrators, and industry partners.

Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

Availability to work flex hours as needed, to include evenings and weekends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Three (3) years’ experience with Tucson Unified School District

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE

Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Effective: 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR

Location: Career Technical Education

Classification: Non Bargaining

FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day

Work Calendar: 10.5 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
