Director - School Health Services (Effective 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR)
Chief Technology and Operations Officer
The Director of Health Services is responsible for the functions of the Tucson Unified School District’s (TUSD) Health Services Department. The Director plans, directs, and administers programs; including hiring and training of staff and the development of medical and health related policies for the district. The Director of Health Services builds and implements strategies and safeguards to protect, promote, and manage the health and safety of students and staff, addressing student health concerns that interfere with learning, as well as preventing illness and injury throughout the school year. The Director consults on IEP and 504 accommodations for students, works with TUSD Leadership, Principals, and Teachers to identify and assess students’ health needs while ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and serves as a liaison to the Pima County Health Department (PCHD) and other health care agencies. The goal of this position is to create an environment for the efficient delivery of health services for the district.
Registered Nurse (RN) and Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health or a related field.
Five years of nursing experience in pediatric health, public health, school health, or a related clinical area.
Two years of administrative or supervisory experience.
Valid Arizona Driver’s license
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Master’s Degree in Nursing or Public Health fields
Experience in a K-12 setting
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check.
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.

LOCATION: Health Services - 102 N. Plumber
FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 12 month
