    Facilitates communication between deaf and hearing impaired students and their hearing peers, teachers
    and others through interpreting and transliterating – voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice.

    High School Diploma or G.E.D.
    Proficiency of Interpreting skills through one of the following:
    Minimum score of 3.5 on Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
    One or more of the following Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certifications:
    National Interpreter Certification (NIC) Certified, Advanced, or Master
    Certification of Transliteration
    Certificate of Interpretation
    Comprehensive Skills Certificate (CSC)
    Valid Certificate from the National Associate of the Deaf (NAD) at level 3, 4 or 5
    Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance
    Verbal, signed, and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and
    comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
    Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
    Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation, Signed English, finger spelling and/or other modes
    of communication with Hearing Impaired (HI) students and adults.
    Basic knowledge of child development and language development.
    Familiarity with the hearing impaired culture and cultural diversity.

    Associate’s Degree, or higher
    General Interpreter License issued by the Arizona Commission of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ACDHH)
    Previous experience working with youth or adults in educational interpreting and/or tutoring.

    Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
    Valid AZ Driver's License required within 10 days of hire. Must not have accrued eight points against driver’s
    license within the past two years.
    Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of auto insurance policy. Coverage must be valid
    throughout term of employment. Must submit evidence of insurance of $30,000 bodily injury liability &
    $10,000 property damage liability.

    LOCATION - Exceptional Education Department - various sites throughout the district
    Supervisory/Professional Non-Exempt - Grade 12
    .88 FTE - 7 hours per day
    9.5 months

    Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.
    The hiring range for external candidates will be $20.31 - 23.80 per hour, based on experience.

    NOTE: Candidates recommended for hire who do not have an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher will be hired as a Provisional Educational Interpreter, White Collar Grade 10. The starting rate will be $15.99 per hour.
