This position is responsible for instructing students with special needs in a program of adapted physical education. The Adapted PE Teacher will positively motivate the student to develop appropriate skills, attitudes and knowledge by utilizing a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students’ abilities and by creating a safe and orderly learning environment.
Arizona Special Education K-12 Certificate
Physical Education (PE) Endorsement/Approved Area
Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
General knowledge of adapted equipment particularly for students with neurological and orthopedic impairments.
General knowledge of the wide range of disabilities found in the Exceptional Education population.
Ability to work in varied settings and devise a work schedule compatible with several school locations.
Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students
Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
Valid AZ Driver's License required within 10 days of hire.
Must not have accrued eight points against driver’s license within past two years.
Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of auto insurance policy. Coverage must be valid throughout term of employment. May be responsible for transporting equipment needed for daily instruction.

LOCATION - Ex Ed Department - Various locations throughout the district
1.0 FTE - 7.5 hours per day
9.5 month position
Temporary Contracts are issued after Labor Day and/or for vacancies of .6 FTE or less for the remainder of the school year only. Temporary Contracts may be eligible for conversion.
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
