Job Description

SUMMARY

The Behavior Intervention Specialist will support students in the areas of academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs. Works in collaboration with Teachers, Counselors, Psychologist, Administration, and MTSS team to assess, monitor, and collect data on students with significant behavior issues in order to devise an appropriate behavior plan. Train staff on the implementation and evaluate the effectiveness of the behavior plan. Understand and appreciate diversity. Work collaboratively with a team to support student safety and further the work of the Unitary Status Plan in the fair and equitable treatment of students in schools. Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate

Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Knowledge or training in behavior management techniques

Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate.

Three (3) years teaching experience

Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students.

Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement.

Knowledge of the implementation of the Response to Intervention for academics, social-emotional, and behavior and the ability to communicate this process with staff.

Knowledge of Restorative Practice and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE

Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

COMMENTS
Effective: 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
Location: Exceptional Education Department

FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day - 2 positions available
Work Calendar: 9.5 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
