Job Description


This position serves as a member of a team, serving in multiple capacities to support district academic initiatives: teacher development; school development; and support of district instructional goals. The Learning Management System Professional Development Academic Trainer will provide training and support to faculty and staff on using the Learning Management System, best practices, and ways to engage students in their learning.

The Learning Management System Professional Development Academic Trainer will work with the Learning Management System Program Coordinator in implementing Canvas across the district and provide ongoing support to TUSD schools.


Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, a Core Content Area or a related field

Arizona Teaching Certificate

Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Five (5) years of teaching experience

Three (3) years experience working with at-risk populations

Two (2) years experience providing professional development

Knowledge and/or experience as a trainer in the Essential Elements of Instruction, or willingness to complete this requirement within one year.

Knowledge of and/or experience as a trainer in the most recent Arizona State Standards (including the Common Core Standards) or willingness to complete this requirement within one year

Availability to work flex hours as needed, to include evenings and weekends.


Three (3) years’ experience with Tucson Unified School District

Experience with Learning Management Systems

Two (2) years experience in online learning in K-12 education


Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.


Knowledge and or experience training in cognitive coaching or other similar coaching frameworks or methodologies

Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including coaching skills, writing competency, professional development presentation skills, well versed in the use and integration of technology, and flexibility.

Works successfully with diverse populations

Demonstrates successful collaboration


Effective: 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR

Location: Curriculum and Instruction

FTE : 1.0 - 7.5 hours per day

Work Calendar: 10.5 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Probationary Contracts will be issued for any contingent Certifications, Positions that are 0.6 FTE or less, and certified employees within their first three years with the District.
