Job Description

SUMMARY

The School Safety Field Lieutenant or Field Supervisor assists with leading, directing, supervising, and coordinating activities with District personnel, community agencies, law enforcement agencies; maintains contact with community representatives, parents, students and local staff. The Lieutenant is responsible for the training, supervision and evaluation of School Safety personnel and Campus Monitors. Ensures that district premises are safe and secure. Prioritizes incoming security related calls for service with dispatcher and handles coordination of response according to established policies and procedures. The Lieutenant is responsible for the development and implementation of coordinated security programs and methods.

Reports to: School Safety and Security Manager

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social sciences or related field, AND three (3) year’s experience as a Law enforcement officer or school district security official

OR

Seven (7) year’s experience as a Law enforcement officer or school district security official

Must be willing and able to carry and use all security weapons including a firearm.

Ability to work occasional extended duty hours due to the needs of the district in covering large scale events with security, emergencies or other unforeseen events.

Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

Training or experience in conflict or crisis resolution/mediation with youth.

Experience in public speaking.

Two (2) years of supervisory experience

Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Five years supervisory experience in law enforcement.

Experience in conducting employee misconduct investigations

Bilingual in Spanish

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE

FBI fingerprint background check

Obtain ICS 300 and 400 certifications within one year

Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Must qualify with District provided firearm according to established training guidelines within 3 months of hire.

CPR and First Aid Certification.

Must submit to post-offer/pre-employment lift test and drug/alcohol screening.

Valid Driver's license (Arizona Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire)

MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.

Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of insurance compliance greater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insurance as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees

FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 12 month
