Job Description

SUMMARY

Ensures children are transported to and from school, athletic events, field trips and other TUSD activities. Position is responsible for transportation safety, regulatory compliance, and student management. Directs and coordinates tasks of Transportation Bus Monitors when present. Performs all duties and related tasks as assigned or directed by supervisor, dispatch, or management. Maximum guaranteed hours of up to 38 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Five years previous driving experience.

Ability to demonstrate mechanical skills as needed.

Must hold a current Arizona Driver’s license and have accrued no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.

Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

School Bus Monitor experince.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE

Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Valid Arizona Driver’s License, Class D, and current Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate required within ten days of hire.

Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Post-Offer/Pre-employment ADOT Medical Certificate with 50lb Lift Test.

Post-Offer/Pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.

Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department.

Must pass biennial Physical Performance Test.

Must meet all school bus driver training requirements to include Map-21 and BTW training.

COMMENTS

Effective: 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

Location - Transportation - Central, East and/or West - Kino & Broadway Area
Classification: - Blue Collar

FTE: .75 - 6 hours per day

Work Calendar: 9.5 months

There are multiple training classes scheduled throughout the school year.

This position will pay $15.45 per hour during the training period.

The position pays $16.11 per hour. Credit is given for experience up to $18.70 per hour.

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
